POP PITSTOP: #Everything4DJeansLover Part 1: Jeffrey Rogador

Following the kick-off party last July 12 with DJ Buddha, the first installment of the many events for Jeans Fest at SM City San Lazaro was held last July 20, 2013 with their guest designer Jeffrey Rogador.

A name to be reckoned with, this talented young man has been in the designing world, first to be known last 2004 as a finalist of MEGA Young Designers competition. With his wonderful works showing his aesthetics with fabrics and skills with keen details, it is no wonder why top brands such as Mossimo and Levi's wanted to do a collaboration with him. More so, he represented The Philippines last 2012 in Monte Carlo's Jeansation 2, and bagged the First Runner Up award. For 2013, he was able to work with JAG ORIGINS for their show in the Philippine Fashion Week, and got the chance to work with Nina Garcia (Project Runway's judge and Marie Claire's creative director).

It was truly a once in a lifetime experience that you get to meet such genius, and even listen to his ideas about fashion, specially with a prime piece as denim. It was an event open to all, and of course, I didn't dare missed it!

Jeffrey first talked about his background, how he started as a designer and then worked his way to be known (which I have already detailed above, hehe ;p). Then, talked about the event's topic: DENIM. He gave a brief description and characteristics of the fabric, and even stated a quote: "Denim is not just a trend. It is forever."

He then presented his latest collection with an overall theme of urban or street hip.

He was able to talk about his 6 prime pieces as detailed below. The models looked really fantastic as they were prepped by Azta and Bang's Tony & Jackey.

Such amazing works on different patterns and stitching were incorporated to denim that most of us might have not thought of.

After the short talk about his masterpieces, he then had an interactive activity with one of the audience, on how one can do an acid wash denim jean. Using the regular bleach that is used in doing the laundry, pour it unevenly to your old pair of jeans while it is scrunched either by hand or rubber bands until desired design appears.

The event ended with an amazing performance from Absolute Play. This band consists of 3 siblings namely Murielle (lead singer), Alto (lead guitar), Mato (drums), and supporting them is their cool dad playing the bass guitar.
